Mohammed Rafi was born on December 24, 1924 and died on July 31, 1980. He was born in a middle class Muslim family at Kotla Sultan Singh village near Amritsar in Indian Punjab, now this place is in Pakistan. He is almost certainly the most famed Hindi playback singer of yesteryears. His songs are still listened & liked in all over the world. Muhammad Rafi's ability was noticed by Music Director Firoz Nizami, who found him a job opportunity at Radio station Lahore. Muhammad Rafi's first popular song was “Yaha Badla Wafa Ka”, composed by Firoz Nizami. It gave Muhammad Rafi huge fame.
Muhammad Rafi also tried his luck as an actor by doing short roles in movies like Jugnu & Laila-Majnu (1945). In movie Laila-Majnu, he sung the song 'tera jalwa' as a part of the chorus.
